 ALBUMS

GHOST (2007)

Though I made many recordings before these, Ghost was my first official release. It was recorded in a small, leaky toolshed in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. The record revolved around the idea of what secrets we leave behind, and how we haunt all the places that we live in small ways. It was also a meditation on grief, and how to make peace with being haunted by our loved ones.

The Family Tree Series (2011 - 2016)

The Family Tree series is a four album set, written and recorded over an eight year period. Each album covers a generation of a semi-fictional family, The Northcotes, becoming increasingly modern in production and song-writing styles with each volume. Inspired by multi-generational family novels, such as “East of Eden” and “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, I wanted to try my hand at the concept in album form, both to weave storytelling further into the songwriting process, and to better understand my own family. I created a guidebook to explain the many connections between all the songs, which can be downloaded here:

SHORT FORM RELEASES

Touch The Sky EP (2010)

When the track “Welcome Home” was picked up by Nikon for one of its commercials, everything changed. Ghost did very little upon release and was quickly forgotten. For it to suddenly see so much attention over 3 years later was a real surprise. I was in the middle of recording “The Roots” when I was asked to quickly put together an EP. I was given two weeks, and Touch The Sky was the result. Luckily, I had a few half finished songs ready to go, so the time limit was manageable.

Always Gold EP (2012)

When my follow-up to The Roots was delayed, I was asked to put together a release so as not to have a dead year. Since Always Gold was doing the best of any track from that album, I was asked to build a small release around it. I tend to always have half-finished songs lying around, so this one happened much like the last.

SunnMoonnEclippse (2017)

This short song-cycle came about as I was thinking a lot on how not to repeat the past, and how to move forward with my life. The beginning and end of the EP form a loop, and the repeating consonants are also a nod to the concept. It was the first of three EPs that were directly about my personal life, instead of the truth being woven into fiction, like on Ghost and The Family Tree series.

Covers, Vol. 1: Lady Covers (2018)

In 2018 I moved to Los Angeles full-time. I was living downtown in a loft, and as a way to learn how to record in the space I decided to do a series of covers. To narrow the field, I only chose from some of my favorite female vocalists.

Missing Film (2018)

A release of purely instrumental music, this collection originated from film and TV projects that had fallen through over the years — either from artistic differences or schedules not lining up. I’d amassed a lot of these over the years, and decided to release a handful of them for free to film-makers. Hence the title.

Therapy (2019)

No longer in the loft and already writing for my next big project, “A Light in the Woods”, I decided to write a set of songs about what I was learning while in Therapy. These six songs are the second directly personal release I have made.

Hidden Hollow, Vol. One (2020 - 2021)

As a pandemic project, I decided to do a song a month for my newsletter, called “Hidden Hollow.” This collection is from the first 6 months, and it is the third in my autobiographical series of releases.
